My Kid & WoW
Written by Jesster

As most of you know, Rob and I have an 8 year old daughter. She is just as much into video games as we are and of course we encourage it since we are video game addicts ourselves lol. We find that it’s something that we can all do together as a family. She does love to play educational games such as the Jump Start Reader games or the Mathblasters games that she finds on GameTap. But she also into more mature games, such as Civ 4 and World of Warcraft. I find this a little out of the ordinary for an 8 year old, but then again she’s not your average small fry. I'm pretty sure she's the only 8 year old that owns Sublime and My Chemical Romance band tees. She has a pretty mature taste of music for her age, amother other things.

A few months ago, she decided that she wanted to play WoW with mommy and daddy. So we all made Tauren Druids and leveled them together. We only got to level 10 or so before she started getting bored and wanted to make another class, so she made a Warlock lol. And that toon she plays every now and then on her own. But what I find really cool, is that sometimes, Rob will let her use his Druid (70) as a tank for instances lol. She can tank bosses and I find that pretty impressive. Many-a-time, I’ve had her follow me around on my Priest while I play Rob’s toons so she can heal me, and she does a great job. She’s also great if you need your fishing/skinning/mining/herbalism skills leveled up haha. It’s like have your own farm bot, but you know… you can’t get banned for it haha.

Anyway, I just wanted to say to those gamer parents out there, if you have a child that’s old enough to play video games and can sit still long enough to play (that’s the big challenge) then I think you should make time to play games with your kids because it’s a whole new experience when you play with kids. Violet notices things in the games that I never would have seen because I’m too busy looking at something else. Life for instance, I never new about the dialogue that goes on in the Undercity Apothecarium. There are NPC’s there talking about doing tests on a rabbit. I had never noticed that before until Vi pointed that out to me. You’d be amazed at the things children notice that you don’t even think twice about.

The Sims 2: Apartment Life

I'll be the first one to admit that I'm a full blown video game addict. Anyone that knows me can tell you how much of my time I spend my face lit up with a gaming screen of some sort, whether it's playing PC games, Xbox or just GameBoy games. Doesn't matter, I'm always playing something... I'll also be the first to admit... that I am addicting to playing The Sims 2. I have every single Sims 1 AND Sims 2 expansion and stuff pack. I've over 8gigs of custom content to play with in Sims 2 and I've made over 20 different Neighborhoods and countless houses and Sims.

The Sims 2: Apartment Life was released August 28 this year and I went out and bought my copy just yesterday. I haven't had much time play so I haven't really even begun to dig into it. I've played for a couple hours but I'm already in love with it and thanking the Sim Gods for adding some of the stuff they did.

Since The Sims: Making Magic, avid Sim players have been waiting for some form of magic to be incorporated into The Sims 2. FINALLY they decided to bring back a tiny piece of the magic. We now have WITCHES! I am so excited about this. You can decide whether to be good, neutral or evil. Each witch will have his/her own spells to cast, potions to make and robes to wear (white for good, brown for neutral and black for evil). You will have a witch book to look spells from and there are now 2 new special hidden lots for witches (one for good and one for evil). You even get your own broom to fly around on! I am so anxious to create a new witch!

There are a couple other things that I've been hoping for that they finally added to the game after such a long wait. There are now built in closets with clothe changing abilities already built in. The new Murphy bed looks pretty neat. It will be great for guest rooms and such. Also, there lots of new social actions and gestures. There is now a "reputation" meter that allows you to build well... reputation. They added lots of new room themes: tech geek, gear head, modern and chic and a whole bunch more.

Then of course, there are the apartment buildings. You can have up to 4 controllable families in these apartment buildings. You have a land lord and you pay rent on a weekly basis. Your land lord takes care of leaky faucets, growing hedges, and squeaky doors. You can also have (non-controllable) roommates that chip in with the rent but you need to keep them satisfied or they will get upset and move out. Something I found sort of funny is that you can music coming from a neighboring apartment at times. Little music waves show up on your wall and you are able to choose the action "Bang wall" in order to make the neighbor turn down their music. I got a little kick out of that.

This expansion seems awesome so far, I plan on taking more time to explore it fully and get the most out of it. I'm really anxious to see how it works having 4 controllable families in one building it seems like that would be a lot of work. I'll blog more about the game once I start getting deeper into the game.

Requiem: Bloodymare
Written by Jesster

I’ve been playing Requiem for a while now and for the most part I have only good things to say about it. There are some bugs that still need to be worked out but for a free play game it’s not half bad. There is a pay option that gets you better drops and a higher XP rate. You can pay a monthly fee or you can buy certain packages (i.e. just the higher XP, better item drops only, etc). The quests are plentiful, but there are only like 3 races to play and there aren’t many customization options. That might change with a subscription as well, I’m not sure. I haven’t explored those options yet since I subscribe to WoW. One game subscription is enough… for now *winks* If y’all wanna see for yourselves. GO HERE and check it out!
